BBC to put arts and music centre stage, says Tony Hall

The Director-General of the BBC, Tony Hall, has unveiled an ambitious strategy for BBC Arts, which includes increased public engagement through events, a new digital offering and closer working with artists and institutions.

Hall, a former chief executive of the Royal Opera House, said: “This is the strongest commitment to the arts we’ve made in a generation.  We’re the biggest arts broadcaster anywhere in the world – but our ambition is to be even better.
