Maldives looks to India’s Public Service Broadcaster for advice

The Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) has expressed interest in learning about how India’s Prasar Bharati functions, and a delegation of officials plan to visit India to understand its workings.

Prasar Bharati had received a proposal from MBC asking for its officers to be introduced to aspects of India’s public sector broadcaster, it was reported in the Business Standard, India. MBC is also reportedly interested sending its broadcasting staff to India for training.  The delegation will visit India next week, from July 1 to July 8, officials said.

India’s public broadcaster, in charge of Doordarshan and All India Radio, is itself currently being scrutinised by an expert committee looking at its structure, relationship with government, role as a public broadcaster and needs for technological improvements.
