The CBA supported three member broadcasters in the Caribbean to participate in the Caribbean Broadcasting Union Annual General Assembly (AGA).
Representatives from Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas (BCB), the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation of Barbados (CBC) and the National Communication Network (NCN) of Guyana participated in the meeting, held in Suriname.
The funding from the CBA continues its partnership with the CBU, helping to support dialogue critical issues affecting digital media in the region. The AGA saw media executives, policymakers, industry product suppliers and content producers gather from across the Caribbean – covering areas speaking English, Dutch and Spanish – to take stock of individual and collective progress, as well as offer insights into how the broascasting can move forward, in the face of current and looming challenges.
Broadcasting rights for high-demand sports events such as cricket were top of the meeting’s agenda, as well as the ongoing discussion and debate over digital TV switchover in the region.
